When talking about online storage/backup i wonder how can these storage provider can give so much storage to the users. Maybe nowaday’s storage has become inexpensive. If you’re looking for a free online backup storage service, Mozy.com is a choice.
So what is Mozy anyway?
Mozy is a secure, automatic online backup and archiving service for any PC in any home or office. It’s simple to install and configure. No external hard drive, expensive subscription services, CD or DVD’s to burn. All you need is a broadband connection and you are ready to go.
What you get?
* 2GB of backup storage
* Block-level differential backup
* Open File support
* 128-bit SSL Support (to secure your data during transport)
* 448-bit Blowfish Encryption (to secure your data on our server)
* Continuous or Scheduled Backup Options
* Up to 4 restore sessions per month
Since they are still in Beta, all these services may change later.
For me, it sounds good but it came across to me the bandwidth issue. This is a free service, so logically many people would like to sign up, this may cause the bandwidth issue. Big capacity is not the main criteria. A good online storage service should also provide good bandwidth to the users. One more thing, behind all this free service idea, all the users must receive some advertisements from Mozy, like mentioned in their site:
What We Get
Here’s the catch - aside from the good karma we get for offering a great free service, every once in a while we get to send you email advertisements for products and services that we think are useful.

They will set you up with software that will allow you to backup your own stuff, but also allow you to start a commercial online backup service.
Free, it isn’t. But wow. It is a great product.
