Do you know that Yahoo has a few Yahoo BETA programs? What are those BETA programs? They are Yahoo Podcast Beta, Yahoo Maps Beta, Yahoo Site Explorer Beta,Yahoo Instant Search Beta, Yahoo Shopping Mobile-Search Beta, Yahoo Audio Search Beta, Yahoo My Web 2.0 Beta, Yahoo Search Subscriptions Beta, Yahoo Mindset Beta, Y!Q Beta, Yahoo Farechase Beta and My Yahoo Ticker Beta. I’ll brief all the programs later in this post. What are the purposes Yahoo provide all the Beta programs? Well, in my personal opinion, Beta programs launched by the giant search engine companies like Google and Yahoo have purposes like to provide a “current web thingy” such as Podcast or Maps in more specific spot or centre. If the response from the web users is hot, then the Beta programs may become one of their source of profit. The Beta programs also beneficial to all the web users especially bloggers,webmasters and the dot com companies. Let’s take a look at it one by one. Yahoo Mindset Beta
Yahoo Mindset is a machine learning technology sorts Yahoo! Search results based on the searcher’s mindset. Because sometimes you want to buy stuff, and sometimes you just want to find information. It gives you give you a choice: View Yahoo! Search results sorted according to whether they are more commercial or more informational (i.e., from academic, non-commercial, or research-oriented sources). Let say i search the keyword “mp3 player” at the Yahoo Mindset search. The search process may take a while because the Yahoo Mindset has to “think” and “sort” the results into two groups, more to shopping OR more to information. Then after the results are displayed you may see a small kind of bar at each of the search results.It will look like . What is that mean? The answer is, take a look at the top of the screen.
